Since
17th century, tin lined copper cookware is considered the Queen of Pans thanks to
its beauty but also to its excellent heat conductivity which allows the ideal
temperature to be reached rapidly and evenly. At 392° copper’s heat conductivity is
the highest among non-noble metals: almost twice that of aluminium (225°) and
over 25 times faster than stainless steel (16°). This makes the copper cookware
a precision tool. When placed on a flame, it will spread heat quickly and
consistently across the bottom and up the sides whilst, when removed from the
heat source, the temperature will drop quickly, avoiding overcooking. Flavors and nutritional values remain unchanged and the food doesn't stick to the bottom of
the pan, avoiding hot spots and burning. Copper pans have since been used in
the kitchens of the world's finest restaurants and today are still found on the
stoves of discerning cooks around the world. Tin
is a great conductor itself: it doesn't interfere with the cooking performance
of copper cookware. Tin’s smooth
crystalline structure makes it naturally low-stick: a small amount of oil or
butter, combined with the right cooking temperature, is enough to release
cooked foods from tin effortlessly.
When
applied by hand over an open flame – as our master craftsmen do – tin bonds to
the copper, ensuring your cookware a very long life when properly cared for.
Unlike
non-stick cookware that raises concerns about the presence of harmful PFOAs on its
pan coating (perfluorooctanoic acid), excluding our jam and whisking pots,
all of our copper cookware have a natural and pure tin lined interior that
are not harmful to your health after long-term use.
Being 100% recyclable, copper is the most
sustainable option in the kitchen. It is estimated that 80% of all the
copper ever extracted is still in use in some form today!
When
you invest in our handmade copper pots, pans and cookware, they will last you
for a lifetime. Instead of having to constantly throw out and replace inferior
cookware, you can pass down our Qopper Stories copper cookware to the next
generation as an heirloom.
On top of these, copper’s natural
oxidation makes it extremely resistant to bacteria and corrosion in a natural
way - and results in the rich patina that many copper connoisseurs love and
cherish.
Packed in a beautiful cotton bag.
