Qopper Stories is built upon a love of food, sustainable living and a passion
to handcraft copperware with unwavering commitment to quality and elegance. We believe that aesthetics and function should
go together, that is why we are committed to craft beautiful objects that last
for generations.
When I realised that the cookware I loved using the most and the
craft that goes into making it was not widely known in the UK, a challenge started-
clear but daunting: to design and craft the finest cooking tools, by hand, for
the people who love to cook!
The art of coppersmithing holds a special place in my
heart. It’s more than just a craft; it's telling a story, a passion to revive
a fading art, keeping a tradition alive. It's saving old knowledge. Qopper
Stories embodies this legacy, forging copper using traditional methods for the
modern kitchen and home. Each piece has a story to tell and will be cherished
for generations to come.
Coppersmithing is a heritage craft that has become at the risk of extinction. At Qopper Stories we cherish this heritage craft and are passionate about celebrating and reviving the artisanal skills and the craftmanship.
Each of our copperware is crafted by master coppersmiths from a single sheet of pure copper after countless steps of manual processes, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. They are crafted with careful attention to functionality and elegance. Each piece tells a story: a story of passion, craftmanship and unwavering commitment to timeless elegance – a testament to the artisans who shape copper into exquisite pieces.
We love the perfect imperfections of our handcrafted objects. Each piece is painstakingly prepared by hand, hence each piece is unique. They might have minor abrasions, imperfections or scruffs as a result. These are considered normal with no impact on the performance or durability. They only add to the unique character of the handcrafted wares and testament to the craftmanship.
Copper is not only beautiful, it is highly functional, too. Each of our Qopper Stories pieces is crafted with unwavering commitment to aesthetics and to last for generations. Copper as an element has excellent heat conductivity and as a cooking tool, our solid copper vessels allow the ideal temperature to be reached rapidly and evenly. When placed on a flame, it will spread heat quickly and consistently across the bottom and up the sides whilst, when removed from the heat source, the temperature will drop quickly, avoiding overcooking. Flavours and nutritional values remain unchanged, and the food doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan, avoiding hot spots and burning. Since 17th century, tin lined copper pan is considered the "Queen of Pans" and since been used in the kitchens of the world's finest restaurants, by discerning cooks and food lovers around the world.
Being 100% recyclable, copper is the most sustainable option in the kitchen. It is estimated that 80% of all the copper ever extracted is still in use in some form today! Lined with pure tin, Qopper Stories copperware can also be renewed 100% good-as-new over and over again, whether it is damaged or aged, making it literally last centuries. When you invest in our handmade copperware, instead of having to constantly throw out and replace inferior cookware, you can pass down our Qopper Stories copperware to the next generation as an heirloom.
From what you cook to what you cook with and serve with should be treated as a whole.
We use
100% natural and pure materials. The only ingredients in our handcrafted
copperware are pure copper(Cu) and tin(Sn); metals are as organic and pure as
it comes from nature. We also use hand casted bronze as handles and knobs.
Our copperware which is made from solid copper is lined by hand in
the age-old traditional way using hot molten tin. This creates a far superior
bond with the copper than modern-day electro-tin plating techniques which can
flake and expose the water to copper. Unlike non-stick cookware that raises
concerns about the presence of harmful PFOAs and unhealthy materials on
its pan coating, the natural and pure tin lined in Qopper Stories’ copperware
is not harmful to your health after long-term use. Tin’s smooth crystalline
structure makes it naturally low-stick.
Also copper’s natural oxidation makes it extremely resistant to bacteria and corrosion in a natural way - and results in the rich patina that many copper connoisseurs love and cherish.
Eco-friendly Packaging:
With a real commitment to sustainability to safeguard the health of people and the global ecosystem, we give extra care when it comes to packaging; it needs to adhere to our brand’s eco-conscious and ethical mindset. Hence we only use eco-friendly packaging with organic cotton bags and kraft materials.
We have also started growing our own mycelium to replace our packaging which is 100% biodegradable in the near future. We will share it soon, stay tuned!
